The active ingredient often used in eyelash serums is prostaglandin, which is a drug. Several studies have been conducted on it, which have confirmed its adverse effects. Prostaglandin-containing serums are already banned in a few European countries, and it will probably soon be banned in the entire EU.
A prostaglandin analogue is used in the treatment of glaucoma, i.e. intraocular pressure. For eyelash serums prostaglandin analogs ended up via the pharmaceutical industry when eye pressure drops were discovered causing eyelash growth and thickening as a side effect.
Prostaglandin analogues (prostaglandin derivatives) are substances that mimic natural prostaglandins. They are found in all tissues of the body and act like hormones, but are not hormones themselves. Their function is to act as messengers, in which case the cells release eicosanoids, i.e. they transmit the signal to nearby cells. In this case of eyelash serum and eye drops used for glaucoma, the hair follicle.
The working mechanism of the serum is to artificially extend the hair growth cycle. This causes the eyelashes to grow longer than they would under normal circumstances. When you stop using the serum, the eyelashes return to their natural growth cycle. Going back to it, a large part of the eyelash falls out - the normal growth cycle does not allow the hair to grow anymore, the eyelash falls out naturally.
Thanks to prostaglandin analogs, the active growth period of the eyelashes can be extended, so that the eyelashes have time to grow longer and can also become thicker when several eyelashes are growing at the same time.
They also increase the production of melamine, which causes the natural color of the eyelashes to darken. In addition, they grow the hair follicle, causing the hair to grow thicker.
Usually, many users of eyelash serums containing a prostaglandin analogue drug begin to notice results very quickly.
Like almost all drugs, prostaglandins also have side effects. Among them are already mentioned eyelash growth and thickening, i.e. eyelashes grow super long, but easily look hollow and spidery. Even more unpleasant side effects can be: dark pigment changes in the skin around the eyes, eye redness and eyelash growth in places where they don't normally grow, and even blurred vision.

USE
– Clean the face and eyes before use.
– Remove contact lenses.
– The amount of liquid that sticks to the applicator when removed from the bottle is sufficient for upper and lower eyelashes or eyebrows.
– Apply to the base of the eyelashes like eyeliner, from the inner corner to the outer corner.
– Dip the applicator in the bottle again and repeat the procedure for the other eye.
– Squeeze out the excess liquid with a cloth.
– Wait until the serum is completely absorbed.
- Don't rub your eyes.
Continue using the product every 2-3 days after 6 weeks of daily use or when the desired result is achieved.

Remember: If you stop using the serum, the eyelashes will return to their original and natural state.

WARNINGS
When using the serum, avoid getting the product into the eye. If the product gets into the eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water. Always use the serum with extreme caution and as described in the instructions. If irritation or redness occurs, discontinue use immediately. Contact your doctor if redness or irritation persists. Do not use the serum on broken skin. Do not use the serum during pregnancy, breastfeeding or chemotherapy or if you are under 18 years old.
